Food on the Wheels

The aim of the project Food on the Wheels (Lith. Maistas ant ratų) is to help one of the most vulnerable groups of Lithuania’s society – the poorest ones and aged people who live alone – by providing them with food and social care.

More

One in three retired persons in Lithuania live below the poverty line and/or in social exclusion. It is especially hard to those retired persons who live alone, are single, and have disabilities. Their pensions or disability benefits are mainly spent on utilities and medicines; almost nothing is left for food.

Presently, the programme is carried out in 17 cities and towns of Lithuania. About 480 aged people receive help in the form of food.

More

Let’s build “SOS apartments of hope”

A lot of sick, lame and old animals find themselves in the shelter run by the organization “SOS Animals”. As these animals often spend their whole lives there, they require warm premises adapted to their needs, which “SOS Animals” shelter currently lacks. To make the life of these animals at least slightly better and brighter, we are making our old dream come true and starting the construction of a new shelter, namely, SOS apartments of hope.

More

The project on the development of SOS Animals, namely, SOS apartments of hope, was launched in September 2015, in a land plot owned by the shelter and found near the Minskas road in Vilnius. It is a structure containing 10 smaller separate premises designed for keeping animals.
